Best Wallet Tracker in Australia (2026): Locatr vs Pebblebee, Spotminders, Chipolo and AirTag

I Compared the Five Wallet Trackers Australians Buy Most. The Differences Weren't Where I Expected.
Every tracker on this list uses the same phone networks to find your wallet, so finding it isn't the difference. What separates them is whether they fit a card slot, whether they work with the phone you actually own, and who you deal with when something goes wrong.
Five trackers sold to Australians, all promising to find your wallet. Here's how they actually compare.
If you've looked for a wallet tracker lately, you've probably seen these five. They advertise to the same people with broadly the same promise: slip it in your wallet and never lose it again. On the surface there isn't much between them.
I should say upfront that I run Locatr, so I'm not neutral. What I've tried to do is compare all five on the same five criteria, link every spec to the maker's own page, and say plainly where the others beat us.
How I compared them
Everything below comes from the makers' published specs and prices, checked on 27 October 2026. The grades are my judgement against these criteria, not lab measurements.
The short version
- For a wallet, passport or bag, bought and supported in Australia: Locatr. 1.8mm, works with iPhone or Android, rechargeable, a Perth-based team and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- If battery life is everything: Pebblebee Card 5 claims up to 18 months a charge, three times ours. It's priced in US dollars.
- If your whole household is on iPhone and you want a long warranty: Spotminders. Same 1.8mm thickness, up to 8 months a charge and a lifetime warranty, but it doesn't work with Android.
- For keys and luggage on an iPhone: AirTag. Its arrow-style Precision Finding is something no card tracker has, but at 8mm it isn't made for a wallet.

A credit-card-sized tracker that sits flat in a wallet, passport holder or suitcase lining and shows up in the Find My app on iPhone or the Find Hub app on Android. It's the only one of the five designed, stocked and supported in Australia.

- From $29.97 a card in multi-packs
- Pebblebee and Spotminders claim longer battery life (18 and 8 months to our 6)

#2 Pebblebee Card 5
Thinnest card, longest battery
B+On paper it's the strongest card tracker I found: 1.74mm and up to 18 months a charge. It works with either Find My or Find Hub, but Pebblebee's own help pages say switching between them needs a factory reset. It's priced in US dollars on Pebblebee's site, and owner reviews on Amazon are mixed.
#3 Spotminders Tracking Card
Slim and well guaranteed, but iPhone only
BSpotminders' card matches ours at 1.8mm and claims up to 8 months a charge on a Qi or MagSafe pad. It comes with 100-day returns and a lifetime warranty, which is the strongest cover of the five. The catch is phones: it only works with Apple Find My, so it's out if you or anyone you'd share it with uses Android. It's a US company pricing in US dollars, and when I checked, the standard card was showing a preorder notice.
#4 Chipolo CARD
A solid rechargeable all-rounder
BChipolo's newest CARD is rechargeable and works with Find My or Find Hub, with a loud buzzer and IP67 water resistance. At 2.7mm it's noticeably thicker than the other cards here. Battery claims vary between sources, from about six months to a year a charge. When I checked, the Australian stockist I found was sold out.
#5 Apple AirTag (2nd generation)
Brilliant on keys and bags, not built for wallets
C+If everyone in your house uses an iPhone, AirTag is excellent on keys and luggage, and its Precision Finding (an on-screen arrow guiding you to it) is a real advantage. For a wallet it's the wrong shape: an 8mm round disc that needs a separate holder to fit at all. It can't be set up on Android, and it runs on a replaceable coin battery rather than recharging.
Why I started Locatr
A few years ago my wallet was stolen from my own house. I only got it back because it had an AirTag in it. That made me want to help other people get the same peace of mind, so I started Locatr. Everything we make works with the phone you already have, and there's never a monthly fee.
If you ever get stuck, call us and you'll talk to one of us here in Perth, not a call centre.

Questions people ask
Is it GPS?
No, and none of these five are. They use Bluetooth and show their location through the Apple Find My or Google Find Hub network: when a nearby phone on that network passes your tracker, its location updates on your map. That works almost anywhere people are, including overseas.
Is there a subscription?
Not for Locatr, and not for any of the trackers on this page. Find My and Find Hub are free.
Which ones work with Android?
Locatr, Pebblebee and Chipolo work with Google Find Hub on Android. Spotminders and AirTag are iPhone and iPad only.
How long does the Locatr battery last?
Up to 6 months a charge, depending on use. It recharges on any standard Qi wireless charger.
What if it doesn't suit me?
Locatr has a 30-day money-back guarantee, and support is run from Perth.
